Musical instrument fun with or without musical instruments

Here are some videos where you can play along with percussion sounds. We have done these in class but now find some "instruments" you can use at home instead of classroom instruments. Some suggestions: bucket, wooden spoons, bottles, bowls, glasses or plastic containers. You can try and play these on your own but get some family members to join you. Get whatever you ca find that can make sound and have fun!
Here is a video to help you think about your kitchen band sounds.

ukulele

If you have a ukulele at home and you are interested in learning how to play it, check in here from time to time to download songs and watch video tutorials. In the meantime, print this chord chart and practice playing them.

These are great videos to help you practice moving your fingers to play chords!
If you practice the chords C, F and G7, you can play along with these two songs. If you are not able to download the chord chart I posted, it will be okay. The videos show the chords while you play the song. Watch my tutorial video first to practice the chords and then try these fun songs!

bucket drumming!!

Start by watching this tutorial video and then try out some of the songs. Remember to pay attention to the instructions at the start of the videos. Not all bucket drumming videos on Youtube will use the same notation. To start with, you can just concentrate on playing the correct rhythm and then practice WHERE to play the rhythm on the drum after. And if you are wondering... R means RIGHT, L means LEFT, and B means BOTH. Good luck and have fun!
If you don't have drum sticks at home, grab a couple of wooden spoons and hold them backwards or you can use chopsticks with an ice cream pail as your drum.
Here are two videos of who I think, was the world's greatest drummer, Buddy Rich!
